Meet the Artists

For more than three decades, So-Q Studio has cultivated a global perspective on the art of ceramics. Founded by artists whose creative paths have crossed four countries, the studio reflects a rare synthesis of cultural influences, refined craftsmanship, and contemporary design. Each collection and class embodies the depth of that journey — where tradition meets innovation, and every form reveals a quiet dialogue between earth, fire, and hand.

Our experience spans a wide range of techniques and philosophies, gathered from years of working alongside master potters and exploring diverse ceramic practices around the world. This foundation informs every piece we create and every lesson we share — an ongoing study of how material, process, and intention shape both object and artist.

Located in Calgary, So-Q Studio serves as both a working atelier and a space for learning. Here, students and visitors are invited to engage with the craft at all levels — from the fundamentals of wheel throwing to the nuances of glazing and surface design. Our approach emphasizes mindfulness, simplicity, and precision, celebrating the timeless beauty of functional form.

Beyond technique, So-Q Studio is guided by an enduring philosophy: that making by hand connects us to something elemental. It is this connection — across cultures, disciplines, and generations — that continues to inspire our work and define the quiet sophistication at the heart of So-Q Studio.

Where the joy of earth meets the art of creation.
